Mary Parkin is a wealthy widow in need of live-in help. The Evans family eagerly accepts the position. But were they chosen by Mrs. Parkin or by fate? Richard Thomas (The Waltons) stars as Richard, a young ski shop owner, who is full of promises he is unable to keep to his wife, Carrie (Annette O'Toole), and their daughter Jenna. In financial difficulty and in order to appease his wife's concerns about a proper place to bring up Jenna, Richard reluctantly agrees to become a groundskeeper at a huge, stately mansion in exchange for living quarters for his family in the estate. The main reason for his dissatisfaction is the strident, arrogant widow who hires him. The widow (Maureen O'Hara) is at first somewhat distant to her new boarders but gradually warms to them. One day, Richard and his family discover the secret, mysterious Christmas box in the attic that leads to a further understanding of the enigmatic Mary Parker and ultimately, to the true meaning of the holiday season. This is a special film with an eternal message of renewed hope and unforgotten love.
