In this book, Fr. Michael Garanzini, S.J. begins with considering the child with all his/her needs and how the family helps the child to mature. He moves on to consider special cases that affect the child. Among these are: dual wage and dual-career families, single-parent homes, and adoptive homes. Next the dysfunctional family is discussed. Among the issues addressed are: transference, projection, chronic illness, divorce, substance abuse, and the abusive family. Suggestions are presented for working with such children and their families. The faculty can use this text as a basis for faculty meetings. 279 pages .
