Description:
This DVD contains three video programs: WE LEARN FROM MARY: THE CLOAK OF MANY COLORS is for children in grades 1-6 and is 16 minutes long. We are introduced to Mary as a girl, a woman, a mother, a disciple and a companion who hears and brings God's word to others. As her life unfolds, we are invited to place our own thanks, joy, sadness, trust, worries and faith on her cloak of many colors as she once did her own life. WE PRAY WITH MARY: THE CLOAK OF MANY COLORS is for children in grades 1-7 and is 17 minutes long. This program teaches children how to pray with Mary. It helps children learn favorite Marian prayers including: the Hail Mary, the rosary, a litany of Mary, the Angelus and the Magnificat. It also teaches them about Mary's feast days in the liturgical calendar. Shrines, art, sculpture and songs speak with beauty and love of Mary in different world cultures. OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE is for junior high to adult level and is 28 minutes long. Ten years after the Spanish conquest of Mexico in 1521, an Indian peasant name Juan Diego saw a beautiful lady standing on the barren Tepeyac hill. The lady was dressed as an Indian woman, had Indian features and spoke to Juan Diego in his own language. She gave him a message for the bishop: "Build my church here." Juan Diego was viewed as an illiterate and naive peasant, so his story was doubted. The bishop asked for a sign. Three days later, Juan Diego returned, his arms full of roses gathered from the barren hill, his tilma, or cloak, imprinted with the lady's image. Throughout history, God has used the poor and the powerless to act as social critics. Juan Diego not only helped reverse attitudes of political and Church authorities toward native people, but also initiated an experience of faith that has survived nearly five centuries. NUESTRA SENORA DE GUADALUPE is for intermediate to adult level and is 29 minutes long. Se presenta dramatizado la antigua historia de la aparcion de la Virgen de Guadalupe al indio Juan Diego. El Padre Virgilio Elizondo interreta el significado del aconmtecimento para sociedad de hoy.
