Title: SCRIPTURE FROM SCRATCH: UNIT 3: OVERVIEW OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
This program presents contemporary Catholic scholarship in a clear, easy-to-follow and non-threatening manner. Disc 1 of 2 includes: Session 1 The Appeal of Paul This session looks at Paul the man and Paul the writer, at those letters that were actually composed by Paul and those that probably were not. In the process, a truly appealing man is uncovered. Session 2: 'Take a Letter'. This session focuses on the other letters of the Christian Scriptures. These epistles are not addressed to a specific individual or community but meant for the Church in general. These documents may well speak to us today in a uniquely personal way. Disc 2 of 2 Includes: Session 3 Luke Gets in the Act. This session looks at how deprived we would be without the Acts of the Apostles. There is nothing else like it in the New Testament, and its significance is substantial. If not for Acts, we would possess no organized account of the origins of the Church. Session 4: A Real Revelation. This session rediscovers the original symbolism and meaning of apocalyptic literature, a literary form that was popular in the eastern Mediterranean world from about 200 years before Jesus till about 200 years after Him. Modern Christians can learn much from this book.
