Description:
DV 62554 GENESIS TO JESUS: JOURNEY THROUGH SCRIPTURE – DISC 1 OF 5 – LESSONS 1 AND 2 (Includes DV 2554 to DV 2558) Disc 1 of Genesis to Jesus: Journey Through Scripture includes Lessons 1 and 2 of this scripture program. Lesson 1: Reading Scripture with the Church. In order to understand Scripture, we need to understand salvation history – the unfolding of God’s plan for humanity to bring us back into his divine family. This Session is about why and how Catholics should read the Bible, and how the Mass is precisely the key to reading Scripture from the heart of the Church. (24 minutes) Lesson 2: The Old & the New. The Holy Spirit is the One who inspires the Scriptures, guarantees their truth, and guides the Church to a correct understanding of their message. Though Scripture has many human authors; it is one unified story marked by covenants in the Old Testament now fulfilled in the New Testament in Christ and his Church. Salvation history is covenant history. (23 minutes) Join Matthew Leonard to discover the basic principles for reading Scripture in this study. Genesis to Jesus surveys the principle covenants that God made with his people through figures such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David. This study also shows how each of these covenants points forward to - and is fulfilled by - Jesus Christ and his Church. In this series of ten lessons on 5 discs, participants will see a panoramic vision of salvation history and humanity’s place in this story. This program includes 5 discs, 1 Leader’s Guide, 1 Participant Workbook, and 1 book entitled A Father Who Keeps His Promises by Dr. Scott Hahn.
