BARRON, BISHOP ROBERT: LETTER TO A SUFFERING CHURCH: CHAPTER 4: WHY SHOULD WE STAY?
Letter to a Suffering Church: Chapter 4: Why Should We Stay? In this short Question and Answer video, Bishop Barron answers the following questions.
1. What is the indissoluble treasure of the Church?
We stay in the Church and fight for the Church because of this treasure.
2. How do the Sacraments remain valid despite corruption in the Clergy?
Saint Augustine stated that it is not by the virtue of the Cleric, but it is the grace of the Sacrament. That it has efficacy. So even the most unworthy cleric can administer the sacraments.
3. What is the most important reason to stay faithful to the Church despite these scandals?
The most important reason to stay faithful to the Church is in the Eucharist. The Treasure is Christ. The treasure is reflected in all the sacraments, the lives of the saints, and in the Liturgy, etc. But the greatest gift Christ left us is the Eucharist. Saint Thomas Aquinas says that the power of Christ is present in all the sacraments, but only in the Eucharist is Christ himself present. There is no great gift or reason to stay in the Church than the Eucharist. Find additional resources at SufferingChurchBook .com
